Vidics: top films, TV shows and the weekly schedule, from The Dark Knight and Lost to Dune and Stranger Things
On New Year's Day 2015 the Vidics home page was a cheerful green dashboard. A bright VIDICS logo with a little film camera sat above a dark green search bar, a row of rounded green tabs led to Films, TV-Shows, Names, News, Genre, Top and Schedule, and white panels below listed the Top 8 Films, the Tvshow Schedule for the days around New Year, the Top 8 TV-Shows and the Top 8 Names. For many viewers it was a favourite way to keep up with films and series. Vidics returns with the same green panels and a new role: every film and show has a page with its story, cast and episodes, and a Watch now button that opens it on the official services in your country.
The Vidics design
This Vidics is rebuilt from the archived January 2015 capture of vidics.ch, and its details are measured from that page's style sheets and images. The page sits on a grey gradient that darkens towards the top, behind a white main column with a pale green rule on its right. The header holds the green logo, and below it the filter bar glows in a dark forest-green gradient. The tab buttons hang beneath it with rounded bottoms, in a lighter green gradient with soft cream lettering in Tahoma. Every content block is a white panel with a thin lime-green border, rounded corners, a green heading and a pill-shaped button on the right. Show names are a deep bottle green, film titles a near-black green, and episode lines a steady blue.
It is a design from the golden age of Web 2.0, and it has aged well: the panels group everything clearly, the greens are calm, and every list fits on one screen.
The logo and filter bar
At the top, a light grey box holds the VIDICS logo, heavy green letters with a film camera on a tripod standing inside the D, and small links to My List and Help on the right. Below it, the dark green filter bar holds the search: a white field, a selector that reads Films and TV, Films or TV-Shows, and a pale Search button. The selector narrows the results before you press Search, exactly as on the 2015 page, and the search reads titles, cast and creators, so typing Christian Bale brings up Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises and The Prestige, and typing Hugh Laurie brings up House.
The green tabs
Beneath the filter bar hang the tabs: Home, Films, TV-Shows, Genre, Top, Schedule and A-Z. Each is a small green button with a rounded bottom edge and a faint glow, and the one for the current page brightens to a fresher green. Films and TV-Shows open the full lists, Genre opens every collection, Top opens the highest-rated titles, and Schedule opens the latest episodes across every series. On a phone, the tabs fold into a green menu button that opens a panel with the search and every link.
Top 8 Films
The first panel is Top 8 Films: eight of the most popular films in the catalogue, shown as posters with their titles and years underneath in bold dark green, just as in 2015. Hovering over a poster gives it a soft grey glow. The pill button on the right, All top films, opens the full list of the most-watched films, with filters for genre, year and score. Today the panel might show Interstellar, The Dark Knight, Inception or Avengers: Endgame; it changes as popularity moves.
The Tvshow Schedule
The second panel is the one many Vidics regulars remember best: the Tvshow Schedule. It shows four consecutive air dates in four columns, each topped by a rounded day label, and under each day the episodes that aired: the show name in bold bottle green, then a blue line such as "S5, E10 - Title". Clicking a show name opens that season's page, where the episode sits in its full list with its summary. The Full Schedule pill opens the latest episodes list for every series on Vidics. On a tablet the four days sit in two rows, and on a phone they stack one under another.
Top 8 TV-Shows
Next comes Top 8 TV-Shows, eight of the most popular series, again with posters and bold titles. It might show Breaking Bad, Stranger Things, The Walking Dead or The Office. The All top TV-Shows pill opens the full list of the most-watched series, each with every season and episode.
Top 8 Names
The 2015 page had a Names tab and a Top 8 Names panel of film stars, and Vidics keeps the idea. Top 8 Names lists the actors who appear most often at the top of the cast in the most popular titles, each shown in a green circle with their initials, their name and a film they are known for. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth usually lead the panel, thanks to the Avengers films. Clicking a name runs a search of the whole catalogue for that person, so every film and series featuring them appears at once. The Top Names guide explains more.
The Help Wall
The original home page ended with a News Wall, a panel of film news with tabs across its top. Vidics replaces it with a Help Wall in the same shape: a tab-shaped heading and a three-column list of guides, from how to watch and the schedule to audio, subtitles and safe streaming. This article follows it.
A title page
Every poster opens a title page with the poster, the title, the year, the running time, the genres and the story. The green Watch now button and the dark Add to My List button sit beneath the story, and the viewing panel lets you choose your country before opening JustWatch. The facts grid lists the release date, language, country and studio, and the cast follows. A series page also lists every season, and each season page lists every episode with its air date and summary, with a mark button to remember your place.
Films of the 2000s
The Films of the 2000s collection gathers the films from 2004 to 2009 that filled the Vidics panels in its early years. Christopher Nolan reinvented the superhero film with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, in which Heath Ledger's Joker became one of cinema's great villains, and made The Prestige, a duel between two stage magicians. Martin Scorsese's The Departed won the Oscar for Best Picture, Inglourious Basterds rewrote the Second World War in Quentin Tarantino's style, and Troy brought Homer's war to the screen with Brad Pitt as Achilles.
Family films shone too. Pixar made The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, WALL·E and Up, a run many consider the studio's finest, and Corpse Bride and Coraline brought stop-motion magic. The Harry Potter series grew darker and richer with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe opened the wardrobe door, and the Pirates of the Caribbean sailed on with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
The first Marvel films
The Marvel Cinematic Universe began in the Vidics years. Iron Man introduced Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark in 2008, and The Incredible Hulk followed the same summer. Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange built the universe film by film, all the way to Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Before that, Spider-Man 3 closed Sam Raimi's trilogy, The Amazing Spider-Man rebooted the hero, and X-Men: Days of Future Past brought two generations of mutants together.
Films of the 2010s
The Films of the 2010s collection covers 2010 to 2016, the years when Vidics was at its busiest. Nolan made Inception, a heist inside dreams, The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar, and Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island trapped a marshal on an island of secrets. Django Unchained won Oscars for Quentin Tarantino and Christoph Waltz, The Imitation Game told the story of Alan Turing, Whiplash turned drumming into a duel, and La La Land became a modern musical classic. Mad Max: Fury Road won six Oscars for its roaring desert chase.
The family shelf of the decade is just as strong: Toy Story 3, Despicable Me, Tangled, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Inside Out, Zootopia and The Good Dinosaur. Young-adult sagas filled cinemas with Twilight, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and The Maze Runner, and the Harry Potter story ended with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Man of Steel relaunched Superman, and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies closed Peter Jackson's journeys in Middle-earth.
New films
Vidics also keeps a shelf of films from 2017 onward, so the panels stay fresh. Blade Runner 2049, Dune and Dune: Part Two brought Denis Villeneuve's grand science fiction, Oppenheimer won seven Oscars, Joker won Joaquin Phoenix the Best Actor award, and Top Gun: Maverick became a worldwide hit. Avatar: The Way of Water returned to Pandora, The Batman reimagined the detective, and Everything Everywhere All at Once became one of the most surprising Best Picture winners ever. For families, Coco, Inside Out 2, The Wild Robot, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and The Super Mario Bros. Movie lead the way, and Project Hail Mary is one of the most loved films of 2026. The films guide suggests more.
Comedy and romance on film
Some Vidics favourites are lighter fare. The Devil Wears Prada follows a young assistant at a fashion magazine and her formidable boss, Mean Girls remains the sharpest high-school comedy of its generation, and Grown Ups gathers childhood friends for a lakeside weekend. La La Land sets a romance between a jazz pianist and an actress to song, and the Shrek films, from Shrek the Third to Shrek Forever After, keep the fairy-tale jokes coming for the whole family.
TV-Shows: crime and investigation
The TV-Shows list holds sixty-one series, and crime drama is its backbone. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation made forensic science a prime-time sensation, and CSI: Miami and CSI: NY took it to two more cities. NCIS has run for more than twenty seasons, NCIS: Los Angeles brought its team to the West Coast, and Criminal Minds follows the FBI's profilers into the minds of the worst offenders. Bones pairs a forensic anthropologist with an FBI agent, The Mentalist and Castle add a consultant to the squad, Monk follows a brilliant detective with many phobias, and Psych follows a fake psychic who solves real cases with a grin.
The Chicago shows, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med, share a city and many crossovers, Blue Bloods follows a New York police family, Hawaii Five-0 brings sunshine to its cases, and Elementary, The Blacklist, Person of Interest and Scorpion add clever twists to the formula. The TV-Shows guide sorts them further.
TV-Shows: mysteries and cliffhangers
The Vidics years were the age of the television mystery, and several of the biggest are here. Lost stranded the survivors of a plane crash on an island full of secrets and became a global event, Prison Break followed an engineer who breaks into prison to free his brother, and 24 told each season in real time, one hour per episode, with Jack Bauer racing the clock. Heroes gave ordinary people extraordinary powers, Fringe investigated the extraordinary with a scientist and his son, and Homeland followed a CIA officer and a returning prisoner of war.
TV-Shows: science fiction and fantasy
Science fiction and fantasy fill a whole shelf. Doctor Who returned in 2005 and ran for thirteen seasons of time travel in a blue police box, Smallville followed a young Clark Kent through ten seasons in Kansas, and The Walking Dead turned a zombie outbreak into a long story of survival. Once Upon a Time brought fairy-tale characters to a town in Maine, Grimm let a Portland detective see the creatures of old stories, and The Vampire Diaries followed vampire brothers in Mystic Falls. Stranger Things, The Expanse, Lucifer and Vikings carried the tradition into the years after Vidics' heyday.
TV-Shows: heroes
Superheroes arrived on television in force. Smallville paved the way, Arrow brought Green Arrow to the small screen in 2012, and The Flash and DC's Legends of Tomorrow grew the Arrowverse around it. Young Justice and Teen Titans Go! offer two very different animated takes on DC's younger heroes, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars fills in the years between the prequel films with seven seasons of adventure.
TV-Shows: comedy
The comedy shelf is a who's who of twenty-first-century sitcoms. The Office follows the staff of a paper company in Scranton through nine seasons of awkward, affectionate comedy, How I Met Your Mother tells Ted Mosby's long story of how he met his children's mother, 30 Rock goes behind the scenes of a sketch show, and Modern Family follows three branches of one big family. Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Psych mix comedy with cases, and Desperate Housewives adds mystery to suburban satire on Wisteria Lane.
TV-Shows: drama
For drama, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul lead the list, followed by House, in which Hugh Laurie plays a brilliant and prickly diagnostician, and The Good Wife, a political and legal drama with a superb cast. Gilmore Girls follows a mother and daughter in a charming Connecticut town, This Is Us follows the Pearson family across decades, Sons of Anarchy rides with a California motorcycle club, and Peaky Blinders and Fargo bring British and American crime to the prestige end of the list. Pretty Little Liars adds a teen mystery with a devoted following.
TV-Shows: animation
Animation fans will find Adventure Time, Regular Show and Phineas and Ferb, three of the most inventive cartoons of their era, alongside Teen Titans Go! and Young Justice. All have every episode listed, which is handy for younger viewers who like to pick a favourite and watch it again.
Complete and returning shows
Most series on Vidics have finished their runs and can be watched from the first episode to the last, from Lost and Breaking Bad to The Office and House. A handful are still returning with new seasons, including NCIS, Criminal Minds, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med, and these are the shows that fill the Tvshow Schedule when new episodes air. The classic TV guide suggests where to start a complete series.
Using the schedule
The Tvshow Schedule works best as a weekly habit. Open Vidics once a week, glance at the four days in the panel, and see which of your shows have a new episode. The network series on the list air in seasons from autumn to spring, so the schedule is busiest from late September to May, with the Chicago shows, NCIS and Criminal Minds adding a new episode most weeks. The schedule guide explains the panel and the Full Schedule page, and every season page shows the dates of every episode for planning ahead.
How Watch now works
Watch now connects Vidics to the services that hold each title. On a film or series page, choose your country in the viewing panel, from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia to Ireland, India, South Africa and the Nordic countries, and press the green Watch now button. Vidics opens the title on JustWatch, an independent guide that lists every official service offering it in that country, by subscription, rental, purchase or free with adverts. Choose one, and the title opens in that service's app or website. Vidics remembers your country for next time, and the how to watch guide walks through the steps.
Where the titles stream
Older series and films move between services often, which is why the country selector matters. In the United States, NCIS, Criminal Minds and the CSI series stream on Paramount+, the Chicago shows on Peacock, The Office on Peacock, and Modern Family and How I Met Your Mother on Hulu, while Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and Max hold many of the films. Disney+ carries Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars, including Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Outside the United States, the same titles often sit on different services, and JustWatch shows the current picture for your country. The services page gives an overview.
Phones, TVs and consoles
Vidics works in every browser, and adding it to your phone's home screen makes it open like an app. Films and series play in the official apps of each service, installed from Google Play, the App Store or your television's store. Fire TV, Google TV, Apple TV, Roku, PlayStation, Xbox and nearly every smart TV run those apps, and Chromecast and AirPlay send the picture from your phone to the big screen. The apps and devices page covers each option.
Remastered in HD and 4K
Many films from the Vidics years have been remastered since. The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar and Mad Max: Fury Road are available in 4K with HDR on many services, and older series such as Lost and Breaking Bad stream in HD. Plan on about 5 Mbps for smooth HD and 15 to 25 Mbps for 4K, and on mobile data choose a lighter quality in the app settings or download episodes over Wi-Fi first.
Audio and subtitles
Most films and series offer the original English track and several dubbed languages, and subtitles in many more, chosen from the language menu in the player. Captions for the deaf and hard of hearing describe sounds and music, and most apps let you resize subtitles and add a background. The audio, subtitles and quality guide has the settings for each device.
Free, legal options
Plenty of films and series from these years stream free and legally. Tubi, Pluto TV and the Roku Channel carry many older titles with adverts, and public broadcasters stream series free in their own countries. On each title page, the Watch now panel lists free options beside the paid ones for your country. The free films and shows page lists the main services.
My List
My List is the Vidics watchlist. Press Add to My List on any film or series page, and the title is saved in this browser, visible to you alone. On a season page, mark the episode you reached, and My List shows your place in every series you follow, which is invaluable for shows with hundreds of episodes such as NCIS, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation or Criminal Minds. Export writes your list to a small file, and Import restores it on another device. The My List page explains each button.
Finding a title
There are several routes through the catalogue. The search field on the green filter bar, with its Films and TV selector, matches titles, cast and creators. The tabs jump to Films, TV-Shows, Genre, Top and Schedule. The Genre tab opens every collection, from Films of the 2000s to Comedy shows. And the A-Z index lists every title by its first letter. The finding a title guide brings these routes together.
Top rated
The Top tab opens the titles scored 8 or more out of 10 by at least two thousand viewers. Among the films are The Dark Knight, Interstellar, Inception, The Prestige, The Departed, Whiplash and Coco. Among the series are Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Lost, House, The Office, Peaky Blinders and Stranger Things. Open Top rated for the full list.
Choosing what to watch
With more than a hundred films and sixty series, a few questions help. How much time do you have? A film fills an evening, a procedural episode fits into forty minutes, and a serial like Lost or 24 deserves several weeks. What mood are you in? The collections sort the catalogue by feeling, from Family and animation to Crime and police shows. And how did audiences react? The score on each page, with the number of ratings behind it, shows how widely a title was enjoyed.
Ideas for an evening
For a Nolan night, pair The Prestige with Inception. For a Pixar evening, Up and Ratatouille suit every age. For a Harry Potter weekend, start at Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and keep going. For a crime night, try an episode of Monk and then The Departed. For a laugh, a run of The Office or 30 Rock episodes, and for something thrilling, the opening hours of 24.
Worth watching again
Some titles reward a second viewing. The Prestige hides its secrets in plain sight, Shutter Island reads differently once you know the ending, and Inception rewards close attention to its layers. On television, Lost and Fringe plant clues seasons in advance, and Breaking Bad takes on new weight once you know where Walter White is heading.
Recognising Vidics
Vidics is easy to recognise: a grey gradient page, the green VIDICS logo with a camera in the D, a dark green filter bar with a search field and a Films and TV selector, green tabs with rounded bottoms, and white rounded panels with lime-green borders and pill buttons. Bookmark the home page and add it to your phone's home screen. The official site page describes these details, and the site status page helps when a page is slow.
Safe streaming
A few habits keep streaming safe. Install apps only from Google Play, the App Store or your TV's own store, keep your devices updated, and use a different strong password for each service with two-step sign-in switched on. Before you pay or sign in, check that the address bar shows the service's real name. Vidics sends you to JustWatch, and JustWatch sends you to the official services, so each step stays on trusted ground. The streaming safely page has a short checklist.
Privacy
Vidics keeps your data in your own browser. My List, your episode marks and your chosen country stay on your device, ready to clear at any time or move with Export and Import. Posters, stories, cast and episode details come from TMDB, and the viewing options come from JustWatch.
How the catalogue is chosen
The catalogue follows the spirit of the 2015 panels. The films are the most-watched English-language films from 2004 to 2016, the years of the Vidics Top 8, with a smaller shelf of favourites from 2017 onward. The TV shows are the most-watched English-language series that began between 2000 and 2016, each with every season and episode. All were chosen from TMDB and checked by hand. The catalogue focuses on films and scripted series for a general audience, and leaves reality shows, talk shows, daily soaps and the raunchier comedies of the period to other places.
A short history of Vidics
Vidics grew into a well-known name among film and television fans in the early 2010s, at vidics.ch and later at vidics.to and other addresses. Its archived New Year 2015 home page shows the design this site keeps: the green camera logo, the dark green filter bar with its Films and TV selector, the rounded green tabs, and the white panels of Top 8 Films, the Tvshow Schedule, Top 8 TV-Shows, Top 8 Names and the News Wall. Vidics today keeps that look and sends every title to the official services, in HD, with subtitles, on every screen.
A first visit
On a first visit, scan the Top 8 Films and Top 8 TV-Shows panels for something that catches your eye, then look at the Tvshow Schedule to see which series aired new episodes this week. Open a title, choose your country and press Watch now to see where it streams. Click a name in Top 8 Names to find every film featuring that actor, add a few titles to My List, and pin Vidics to your home screen.
Christopher Nolan on Vidics
Christopher Nolan is the best-represented director on Vidics. Batman Begins rebuilt the Batman story from the ground up in 2005, The Prestige set Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale against each other as rival magicians, and The Dark Knight became one of the most acclaimed superhero films ever made. Inception followed a team of thieves into layered dreams, The Dark Knight Rises closed the trilogy, and Interstellar sent a crew through a wormhole to save humanity. Oppenheimer finally won him the Oscar for Best Director. Watching them in order shows a filmmaker growing more ambitious with every film.
The Pixar years
The Vidics years overlap with an extraordinary run at Pixar. The Incredibles gave a family of superheroes a suburban life, Cars raced across Route 66, Ratatouille put a rat in a Paris kitchen, WALL·E sent a lonely robot into space, and Up tied thousands of balloons to an old man's house after one of the most moving opening sequences in cinema. Toy Story 3 brought Woody and Buzz to a day-care centre, Inside Out visited the emotions inside a young girl's mind, and Coco and Inside Out 2 continued the tradition. Cars 2 and The Good Dinosaur complete the shelf.
The Harry Potter films
Six of the eight Harry Potter films are on Vidics, and together they make a wonderful winter marathon. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, directed by Alfonso Cuarón, brought a darker, more magical look to Hogwarts, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire staged the Triwizard Tournament, and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince prepared the final battle. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 brought the saga to its grand conclusion in 2010 and 2011.
Other sagas
Several other sagas run through the film list. The Pirates of the Caribbean films, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, follow Captain Jack Sparrow across the high seas. The Hunger Games films follow Katniss Everdeen from arena to rebellion, Twilight launched a romance that filled cinemas with fans, and The Maze Runner traps a group of teenagers in a giant labyrinth. The Avatar films return to Pandora, and the Dune films bring Arrakis to life.
History and true stories
Several films on Vidics look back at real events. The Imitation Game follows Alan Turing's race to break the Enigma code, Hacksaw Ridge tells the story of Desmond Doss, an army medic who carried dozens of wounded soldiers to safety on Okinawa, and Oppenheimer follows the physicist at the heart of the Manhattan Project. Troy retells the Trojan War of legend with Brad Pitt and Eric Bana, and Inglourious Basterds imagines a very different ending to the Second World War.
Thrills and chills
For suspense, The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2 follow the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, World War Z sends a UN investigator around the world during a global outbreak, and Shutter Island builds its mystery in a lonely island hospital. Alien: Covenant returns to Ridley Scott's saga, and Terminator Genisys revisits the war against the machines.
The CSI franchise
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation premiered in 2000 and changed television. Its Las Vegas night-shift team, led first by Gil Grissom, solved crimes with fingerprints, fibres and DNA, and made forensic science a prime-time obsession around the world. The success spawned CSI: Miami, with Horatio Caine and his famous sunglasses, and CSI: NY, with Mac Taylor's team in Manhattan. Together the three series run to more than thirty seasons, every episode listed on Vidics with its air date and summary.
NCIS and the case-of-the-week
NCIS follows the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, led for many seasons by Leroy Jethro Gibbs, and it has become one of the longest-running dramas on American television, with more than twenty seasons. NCIS: Los Angeles took the formula to California for fourteen seasons. Criminal Minds follows the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit, and Bones pairs the forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan with the FBI agent Seeley Booth. These are shows you can join at almost any episode, which makes them perfect for a relaxed evening.
Lost
Lost began in 2004 with a plane crashing on a mysterious island and ran for six seasons of flashbacks, flash-forwards and puzzles, from the hatch to the smoke monster. It was one of the first series fans discussed episode by episode online, and it remains one of the great binge-watches. Each season page on Vidics lists every episode with its summary, which is useful for keeping track of the many characters and timelines.
House
House follows Dr Gregory House, a brilliant, sardonic diagnostician played by Hugh Laurie, and his team of young doctors as they solve medical mysteries at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. Each episode is a puzzle with a patient at its centre, and over eight seasons the series built one of television's most memorable characters.
The Office
The Office adapted Ricky Gervais's British comedy for America in 2005, following the staff of the Dunder Mifflin paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Steve Carell's Michael Scott, the romance between Jim and Pam, and the rivalry between Jim and Dwight made it one of the most rewatched sitcoms ever. Its nine seasons sit comfortably beside How I Met Your Mother, 30 Rock and Modern Family on the comedy shelf.
Doctor Who
Doctor Who returned to British television in 2005 after a long break, with Christopher Eccleston and then David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker as the time-travelling Doctor. Thirteen seasons of adventures in the TARDIS, the blue police box that is bigger on the inside, are listed on Vidics, and the series is a favourite for families who enjoy science fiction together.
A week with Vidics
Here is one way to spend a week with Vidics. On Monday, start Lost. On Tuesday, watch The Prestige. On Wednesday, enjoy a few episodes of The Office. On Thursday, catch the latest Chicago Fire from the Tvshow Schedule. On Friday, invite friends for The Dark Knight. On Saturday, begin a Harry Potter marathon, and on Sunday, relax with the family and Up. Add each title to My List and mark the episodes as you go.
Reading the scores
Every title page shows a TMDB score out of ten and the number of ratings behind it. A high score with thousands of ratings, like Interstellar or Breaking Bad, signals a title that pleases almost everyone. Older series gather ratings slowly, so a classic like Monk or Psych may show fewer votes than a recent hit while being just as loved. Use the score as a friendly signpost, then read the story and trust your own taste.
Watching together
Many of the titles on Vidics are ideal for shared evenings. Families can agree on a Pixar film or a Harry Potter in a minute, friends can follow a mystery like Lost or Prison Break and compare theories, and couples can work through a long comedy like How I Met Your Mother together. Most streaming apps offer separate profiles, and My List can be exported from one device and imported on another so everyone knows what is next.
For younger viewers
For younger viewers, Phineas and Ferb, Adventure Time, Regular Show and Teen Titans Go! are bright, funny cartoons, and the Pixar and Disney films, from Ratatouille to Frozen, suit every age. Older children often enjoy Doctor Who, Smallville and the Harry Potter films. Check the certificate on each streaming service before pressing play.
Sharing a title
Every Vidics page has a clean, stable address, so sharing a film or series is as simple as copying the link and sending it on. The link opens the same page, with its poster, story and Watch now button, and your friend can choose their own country to see where it streams for them. Season pages can be shared too, which is handy for pointing someone to a particular episode.
Slower connections
Vidics is designed to be light: posters are compressed, pages load quickly, and the home panels show the most useful titles first. On the streaming services, a lower quality setting keeps playback smooth on mobile data, and downloading episodes over Wi-Fi is a good idea before a journey. The quality guide explains the settings.
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul
Breaking Bad began in 2008 with a mild chemistry teacher in Albuquerque who turns to making methamphetamine after a cancer diagnosis, and over five seasons it became one of the most celebrated series ever made, with Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul giving career-defining performances. Its prequel, Better Call Saul, follows the small-time lawyer Jimmy McGill on his path to becoming Saul Goodman, and many critics rank it just as highly. Together the two series make a complete story of eleven seasons, best watched in order.
24 and Prison Break
Two of the great thrillers of the 2000s made their names with clever formats. 24 told each season as a single day, one hour per episode in real time, following the counter-terrorism agent Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland, as the clock ticked on screen. Prison Break followed a structural engineer who has the plans of a prison tattooed on his body so he can break his brother out. Both reward watching several episodes in a row, and both end almost every episode on a cliffhanger.
Gilmore Girls
Gilmore Girls follows the quick-talking Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter Rory in the small Connecticut town of Stars Hollow, with its eccentric neighbours, its town meetings and its endless cups of coffee. Its warmth and rapid-fire dialogue have made it a comfort series for more than two decades, and all seven seasons are listed on Vidics, episode by episode.
The Genre tab
The Genre tab opens every collection on Vidics. Films are grouped by era, Films of the 2000s, Films of the 2010s and New films, and by type, Action films, Family and animation, and Fantasy and sci-fi films. Series are grouped as Crime and police shows, Sci-Fi and fantasy shows, Comedy shows and Drama shows, and by status, as Complete shows and Returning shows. Top films, Top TV-Shows and Top rated complete the list. Each collection page has filters for year, genre and score, and a sort order for popularity, rating or date.
Cinema at home
A few small touches make an evening at home feel like a trip to the cinema. Dim the lights, switch the television to its film picture mode, and turn off motion smoothing so films keep their natural look. Use a soundbar or good headphones for films with big soundtracks, such as Interstellar, Mad Max: Fury Road or Dune: Part Two, and choose the 4K version where your plan and connection allow.
Superheroes before and after Endgame
Superhero fans can trace the whole modern era on Vidics. Before Marvel, Batman Begins and Spider-Man 3 showed two very different approaches to the genre, and X-Men: Days of Future Past brought two generations of mutants together through time travel. Man of Steel relaunched Superman in 2013, The Batman reimagined the detective in 2022, and the newest films, from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, carried the genre into the 2020s. Every film has its release year on the page, so watching in release order is easy.
Smallville and Heroes
Two series shaped superhero television in the 2000s. Smallville followed a teenage Clark Kent in a Kansas farming town for ten seasons, growing up alongside Lana Lang and Lex Luthor before he ever wore the cape. Heroes followed ordinary people around the world who discover extraordinary powers, with the famous slogan "Save the cheerleader, save the world". Both paved the way for the Arrowverse and the streaming superhero series that followed.
Latest arrivals
The panels on the home page refresh as popularity shifts and new episodes air, and the New films page lists every film from 2017 onward with filters for genre and year. It is the quickest way to see what has arrived since your last visit.
Teen favourites
Teen dramas were a big part of the Vidics years. The Vampire Diaries mixed romance and the supernatural in the town of Mystic Falls, Pretty Little Liars followed four friends and a mysterious tormentor known only as A, and Gilmore Girls followed Rory from high school to college. On the film side, Twilight, Mean Girls and the Hunger Games films were the talk of every school, and they remain popular choices for a nostalgic evening with friends.
